Dining can be fraught with etiquette "faux pas" embarrassments, most of which can be avoided with some guidance. Chivalry goes a long way to easing awkward moments when meeting someone new or in the presence of your employer, especially if she is female - so please read on ...
 
Some of the points to be aware of when corporate dining -
  • Ladies should be seated first before you sit down at a place setting.
  • Make sure ladies order their food before you give your order.
  • Establish with guests their preference to wines - and guide if necessary.
  • Know which glass to use with different wines.
  • Understand the correct use and technique of all the cutlery.
  • Physical manners at the table. Sitting and eating.
  • Keep your mobile in your pocket and on silent - Not on the table.
  • Try to talk to fellow guests, but not about yourself.
  • Thank the Maître d'hôtel when leaving the restaurant - It's good manners.
